Windows Vm How To Emulate A Virtual Machine With Virtual Box

Virtual Box is a powerful tool that will let you create and use virtual machines as if you were working on a different computer without having to backup your hard disk partitions and going through the time consuming process of preparing your system for a new OS.

This is possible because Virtual Box will let you create a "virtual machine" which will essentially work as if you had a "virtual computer" available with all the regular options you might need such as access to CD/DVD drives and USB devices.

The setup of a virtual machine is simple and doesn't require any complex or complicated operations, a wizard being available to permit the easier setup of the machine and choosing the resources which will be available on the machine.

Besides the function of creating a new virtual machine, what makes Virtual box even better is the possibility to use virtual machines created by other users and posted online by only downloading them and mounting them in the software.

The amount of virtual machines available online will sometimes spare you the process of installing an OS on the virtual machine but still, most of the times if planning to use the virtual machine on longer periods of time it would be best if you configure all of its features and components and then putting the OS as a fresh  install because it will be most likely better adapted to your machine.

The operating systems supported by Virtual Box are not limited only to Microsoft Windows or Linux distributions but it also supports Solaris, BSD, IBM OS/2 or even Mac OS X.

So all in all what you will need to do is basically this:

Install Oracle VM VirtualBox, hit the NEW button and have the wizard opened, click Next at the Welcome screen

Choose the Operating System that will be used and eventually its version;

Assign an amount of RAM memory that the machine will be using (depending on the chosen OS you will be suggested a Base Memory Size, but you can also change it, works best to assign more memory especially when you have enough installed in your physical computer);

Assign a Virtual Hard Disk either by using one of the downloaded virtual machine images or by creating a new one (its size will also be suggested based on the OS that you have chosen). If you choose to create a new virtual HDD another Wizard will be opened to help you set it up quickly and easily;

After having the machine set up you might want to tweak it a bit more by adding a CD drive or a USB device to it or by choosing the Boot order or the number of CPUs that will be used.

After having your settings applied you are ready to start the virtual machine and install your OS, a process that will work in the same manner as if you were installing it on a physical computer.

In the end, what you may call Virtual Box is not only a virtual machine emulator but even more, a sandbox where you can play with OS's without worrying of losing data due to failed system tweaks or due to files that may have contained a virus and you weren't sure of it.

The numerous uses of Virtual Box makes it more than suitable for testing new OS's like Linux distributions or new applications and even to open a file you received on e-mail without worrying that if it contains a virus you will lose all the data on your computer.

Openxchange Role Of Service Consultant In Automotive Industry

The automotive industry has undergone tremendous changes and development in the 20th century and so far there is no stopping to it. Since the rolling out of the first car, the automotive industry news reports a steep rise in sales, as more and more cars are being produced. In recent times, with so much economic liberalization, attractive finance schemes and tax benefit laws and with increase in the income of the local people, car sales have been hitting new highs. However, with changing times, the mentality of people has changed and today services provided by car manufacturers play a crucial role, apart from car designs and models.

As more companies jump into the automotive sector, buyers have more freedom of choice to select the best of the lot. Unlike earlier times, buyers today pay more attention towards the services provided by the car producers. And with a variety of media around, buyers research and gather more information, before they step into any car dealerships. Hence, with so much of emphasis given on service, the role of the automotive service manager is vital to every car company in the market.

Not only does the automotive service manager coordinate and supervise the duties performed by the service staff, he looks after all the operations carried out by the service department. He has to make sure that all the employees working under him are adhering to company policies and other applicable standards and laws. Because the automotive service manager deals with customers and the service department, he has to be calculative about keeping both, the customer and his staff happy. Also, he does need to have a decent knowledge about mechanics of automobiles, and a pleasing personality to maintain customer satisfaction ratio.

Those employed in the service manager job have to ensure customer retention by not only providing repair and maintenance service but also by communicating and understanding customer’s priorities. He has to analyze and identify market reports, and have a good understanding of current trends making waves in the automotive sector. With so many things in one platter, it goes without saying that the service manager job requires leadership qualities, management know-how, counseling skills, apart from the customer service parameters.

At times, it becomes an arduous task for the automotive service manager to cope up with so many responsibilities and duties, which is time when he needs a service consultant, who will help him to get out of his overloaded work schedule. The main purpose of the service consultant is to counsel service managers, who are buried under the work load which comes with their job profile. Service consultants help service managers on how they can perform their duties in an organized way, which will not only bring down their stress level, but also pump out more productivity.

Service consultants also provide insight to those in the service manager job or service director job on how to calculate the productivity of other employees, and educate them with work practices to enhance their customer service skills. Service consultants take service advisor training as part of the service consulting module and set standards to make sure employees always have a positive approach towards their work and are updated with skills and knowledge so that they can provide a better experience to their customers.

Physical To Virtual Do You Have What It Takes To Create A Virtual Corporation?

Running a virtual corporation takes an entirely different skill set and frame of mind than working at a physical location.

The popular conception of people who work from home, or telecommute, is a rather skewed one: when you think of working from home, you're likely picturing a leisurely individual clad in pajamas and bunny slippers, lounging poolside with a laptop and a cool drink.

This erroneous image of a glamorous freedom from responsibility, all while earning more money than you could possibly spend, has become the impetus for many disgruntled office employees and homemakers to fuel the growth of work-at-home scams.

The reality of operating a virtual corporation is much less dazzling.

Ask anyone who runs a business from home, and they'll paint a more accurate picture of long hours, endless responsibilities, and struggles with clients that would never occur in the regular business world.

The VC business model is not the easiest form to tackle.

However, make no mistake: it is the most rewarding, and eventually, the most fun. And it does get easier.

By arming yourself with the facts about running a virtual corporation before you begin one, you can turn a potential disaster into the best and most satisfying career you will ever have—and someday you will find yourself in the lounge chair by the pool, with a laptop and a cool drink, while everyone is asking you how you did it.

We'll start by discussing the aforementioned character traits you need to be a successful virtual corporation.

Passion: Does this one come as a surprise? Passion may not seem like a difficult trait to come by, but it's one of the most important for anyone working from home. You are going to be spending a lot of time thinking about your business, developing your business, working on your business, and convincing potential customers to give you business. That makes your passion for what you're doing an essential element of your skill set for two important reasons. One is that you will live and breathe your product or service. The other is that when you believe in what you're doing (or selling), that passion will shine through in your work, and your customers will feel confident in dealing with you.

Motivation: Are you driven to work for yourself? The reasons behind the decision to work from home in a virtual setting are as varied as the people who do it. For many, it is the freedom of creativity and the challenge of making all the decisions themselves that drives them away from an office setting. Some are simply tired of lining other people's pockets with the fruits of their labor. Thousands of parents make the move to virtual corporations in order to spend more time with their families. Still another great reason to work from home is the expense you will save on gas, travel time, professional attire, and takeout lunches. Whatever your reasons for choosing to start or transition to a virtual corporation, make sure the motivation behind them is powerful enough to keep you working when the going gets tough.

HELPFUL HINT: Determine your motivations for running a virtual corporation right from the start: "I want to be here for my family," or "I'm sick of dazzling clients left and right just to make my boss look good," or "If gas prices rise one more time, I'll have to start riding a bike to work." Then commemorate those motivations in physical form: make a poster, use the marquee setting on your computer's screensaver, or write it with a marker on a coffee mug. Keep your driving force on display at your home office desk and glance at it every once in a while—like after you've just argued with a client over why he should pay the invoice you sent him thirty days ago, or while you're up at two in the morning trying to put the finishing touches on a proposal. It will remind you why you're doing this, and what your rewards are.

Determination: If you're the type of person who gives up easily, running a virtual corporation will be challenging at best. The good news is, determination is something you can develop. You may find that otherwise well-meaning friends and family members have difficulty understanding that even though you're home, you're working; and no, you can't run to the grocery store or dog-sit for them, nor can you enjoy a leisurely chat over coffee in the middle of the afternoon. Determination to make your virtual corporation successful will help you learn to say "no" to requests that would seem reasonable, if only you weren't working. Start out by informing everyone you know (especially those who are potential interruptions) that you are starting a business from home, and briefly explain what your job will entail.

Self-discipline: As someone who will report only to yourself, you must keep in mind that the work will not get done unless you do it. You'll also have to deal with the temptation of distraction, especially in a virtual setting where the internet provides all kinds of lovely sidetracks that are just a click away. Most people don't naturally possess the amount of self-discipline necessary to run a virtual home-based business—but this skill is also something that can be developed. It's a case of practice makes perfect: the more often you remind yourself that you're sitting in front of the computer to work, the more natural the process will become.

HELPFUL HINT #1: Set a schedule for yourself and stick to it. Because you are working for yourself, you have the ability to create a flexible schedule that fits around the rest of your life. Perhaps you are able to devote the hours of 9 to 5 for work. Or, if you're following the virtual model in order to spend time with your family, you may choose to work while the kids are at school, and then put in a few more hours at the end of the day, after they've gone to bed. You can give yourself weekends off, or schedule additional hours on the weekends in order to have more free time during the week. Whatever schedule you set for yourself, the only important thing is to make sure you follow it as strictly as possible so you're not scrambling to get things done.

HELPFUL HINT #2: If you're able, have two separate computers: one for work, and one for leisure. One of the most difficult challenges in running a virtual corporation is setting boundaries between work and personal time; more often than not, beginners blend everything together and end up feeling like every waking moment is spent working. Having separate computers helps you distinguish work from leisure in your mind, and allows you to maintain your professional side while still finding time to unwind. Do not install instant messenger programs, chat room applets or computer games on your workstation computer; save those for private time.

Personal responsibility: For everything that goes right—or wrong—in your virtual corporation, you will be the one solely responsible for it. Those who work from home must keep in mind that when problems come up, they are responsible for solving them in the most professional manner possible. On the flip side, however, you get to take every scrap of credit for jobs well done. The pride and satisfaction you can take in running a virtual corporation is unmatched.

Virtualization Software The Top Reasons To Choose Vps Hosting

The concept of virtual private servers is increasingly becoming popular as more and more businesses are realizing the potential and advantages of using them. Companies these days prefer to go with the virtual private servers as these are not as expensive as dedicated hosting but still they overcome the limitations of shared hosting.

The operation of a virtual private server is simple. It is a server running within another server and hence they behave like an independent server. The advantages of virtual private server are high security, reliability, scalability and flexibility. Big business houses which are planning on expansion should choose virtual private server. This is by far the best web hosting solution. Most often virtual private servers come bundled with state-of-the-art virtualization software which enables a virtual server to act as a powerful, single dedicated server.

In this form of web hosting, a single physical server to act as several separate virtually dedicated servers. Each VPS account enjoys its independent operating system, web server and email server resources. The easy setup and the quick server response time make virtual private servers the most secure and viable option amongst the different web hosting solutions. Most of the VPS hosting services now have round the clock customer support and interactive visuals that can help you with all your hosting needs. That is why VPS hosting provides the ideal solution for e-businesses looking for more features and greater control.

With virtual private servers, you can actually enjoy root access and the flexibility to make changes to your website and gain a better control over your hosting environment. VPS hosting actually helps you to enjoy complete functional isolation.

Virtual Machine Hosting Flexible Hosting With VSphere

Hosting companies are famous for offering rock bottom deals—loads of space for next to nothing. But often, those “deals” come at a high price, requiring a cookie-cutter approach that doesn’t work for today’s high energy, fast-reaction time companies.

With VMware’s vSphere, virtual hosting companies can offer additional operating systems, more than any other hypervisor, and the opportunity to use the latest cloud computing concepts like chargeback applications and Open Virtualization Format vApp to make your environments as versatile as your company needs to be.

Operating System Choices and vSphere

By using vSphere as your virtualization platform, you get fewer restrictions on host and client operating systems. The latest VMware-supported operating systems include Asianux, Debian, CentOS, FreeBSD, OS/2 Warp, Windows 7, Open Enterprise Server, and Solaris 10, adding to others that have been supported by VMware for years, such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, SuSE and NetWare.

À la Carte Billing with Chargeback Applications

A true cloud computing platform, vSphere supports the use of chargeback applications. Using a chargeback, a customer can pay just for the processing power, RAM, storage space, and networking they consume. That means that as the customer, you can slice the pie a little bit thinner when it comes to operating expenses, adding to the capital expenditure savings realized through virtualization. And if you are hosting applications for your customers, you have a new way to evaluate, measure and charge your customers for exactly what they use—no more choked applications during a sudden spike or punitive after-the-fact billing. You and your customers can both see exactly how much was used and when, reducing billing hassles. Conversely, your customers will be pleased to be charged less when their demand goes down.

And chargeback can help allocate resources and promote visibility into the costs of doing business within your own company, as well, by showing who’s using virtualization resources.

Maintain Policies and Service Levels with vApp

Run your applications securely with vApp, which enables the control of multiple virtual machine interactions, and even virtual machine creation at your own site, using the industry-standard Open Virtualization Format. OVF specifies and encapsulates all components of a multi-tier application, maintaining operational policies and service levels across the application. In the same way that a UPC bar code signifies all the information about a product, vApp contains all the policy standards defined by application owners, which the cloud operating system can automatically interpret and execute.
